Axiomatic Transient Surge Protectors - An Overview

Axiomatic Surge Protectors provide protection against transient voltages and surges for all sensitive electronic equipment. All modules are designed for DIN rail mounting and are IP00 rated.

AC Line Voltage Surge Protectors:

The TSP-WG6-xxxVAC-10A-01 is used in single phase AC supply voltage applications.


DC Voltage Surge Protectors:

The TSP-WG6-xxxVDC-10A-01 is used in DC supply voltage applications.

Both modules have a line side which is connected to the supply POSITIVE and COMMON, and a protected side which connects to the equipment that is to be protected. An inductor then slows down the rise time of the transients and reflects some of the transient energy back. The rest of the protection is then provided by a MOV and a thermal fuse which is connected to an array of subsequent MOV's. The first MOV suppresses large surge currents and clamps the voltage spikes that are just above the maximum supply tolerance level. Once the second stage MOV reaches the end of its useful life, the thermal fuse will blow and the MOV will be removed from the circuit. Additional protection is provided by the array of MOV's. All destructive voltages and currents are absorbed into an EARTH connection. When the LED is not illuminated, the module should be replaced.

Voltage Surge Protectors:

The TSP-WG4-xxV-1A-01 (03) are used in 1 wire unipolar (and bipolar) systems. The TSP-WG6-xxV-1A-02 (04) are used in 2 wire unipolar (and bipolar) systems. A range of voltages are offered.


Current Loop Surge Protectors:

The TSP-WG4(WG6)-20MA-xxV-01 (03) are used in 1 wire unipolar (and bipolar) systems. The TSP-WG6-20MA-xxV-02 (04) are used in 2 wire unipolar (and bipolar) systems. A range of voltages are offered.

These devices are designed to provide protection for remote transducers and their associated data acquisition system.

Both modules have a line side which is connected to the transmission wire, and a protected side which connects to the sensitive equipment. These surge protectors provide three stages of protection for the signal path. The two wire version has two stages of protection for the power path while the one wire version does not support a power path. An inductor slows down the rise time of the transients and reflects some of the transient energy back. The second stage of protection is in the form of TRANZORB's which provide tight voltage clamping. The third stage of protection is then provided by MOV's which suppress large surge currents and clamp the larger spikes. All destructive voltages and currents are absorbed into an EARTH connection. When the LED is not illuminated, the module should be replaced.
