The Axiomatic AX141560 and AX141560A Gigabit Automotive Ethernet to Gigabit Ethernet Converters provide a purely physical, bi-directional conversion between Automotive Ethernet (1000BASE-T1) and Ethernet (1000BASE-T) via PHY transceivers. Baud rates of 100 Mbit/s and 1 Gbit/s (1000 Mbit/s) are supported and can be set through the RS-232 interface.

These converters operate with a power supply input of 9 V to 36 V and are protected against surge, reverse polarity, over-voltage, and under-voltage faults. The units operate at temperatures between -40 to 85 °C (-40 to 185 °F) and feature an IP67-rated, laser welded, and injection molded enclosure and cover.

AX141560A — Gigabit Automotive Ethernet/Gigabit Ethernet Converter, Dedicated Power Connector
The Automotive Ethernet to Ethernet Converters are configured via the RS-232 port to act as a Master or Slave for Automotive Ethernet. The Master mode works if the connected device has its transceiver set to slave mode. The Slave mode works when the connected device has its transceiver set to master mode. Hard setting the Master/Slave relationship saves on setup-time costs and ensures that the Automotive Ethernet link is established quickly. Automotive Ethernet networks use a 2-wire, twisted pair cable. As a comparison, regular Ethernet converters rely on auto-negotiation to determine Master and Slave.
