LVDT/RVDT Simulators, DIN Rail

Linear Variable Differential Transformers (LVDT) are sensors/transducers that sense and convert linear movement to AC electrical signals. Rotary Variable Differential Transformers (RVDT) are sensors/transducers that sense and convert rotary movement—also known as angular movement, to AC electrical signals. Both LVDT and RVDT deliver signals proportional to the displacement generated by the transformer’s core. An LVDT/RVDT simulator is used to convert digital positional commands—linear or rotary, to corresponding AC signals. Axiomatic’s LVDT/RVDT devices simulate these signals without the presence of the actual device.

The LVDT/RVDT Simulators are used to test LVDT or RVDT sensors. Using a 0-10 VDC command signal input and an excitation (drive input), the unit provides 2 full isolated simulation outputs. An internal 3 kHz oscillator can be used as an alternative excitation source. Factory settings for the offset (minimum) and span (maximum) are user adjustable. Different models provide different settling times and phase differences between inputs and outputs.

The Precision LVDT/RVDT Signal Conditioner simulates an LVDT/RVDT signal, is based on FPGA technology, and uses 16-bit resolution for precision. The signal conditioner generates 2 isolated LVDT/RVDT simulation outputs and an additional reference output. The LVDT/RVDT Signal Conditioner interfaces with a CAN network, an Ethernet TCP/IP, and USB-C web interface. The Precision LVDT/RVDT Simulator is user configurable via Ethernet TCP/IP web interface. The unit enclosure features a DIN rail mount and a protection rating of IP20.
